After breakfast in the hotel, start making your way to Ouarzazate. On your way, stop for a walk in the heart of the cliffs of Todra Gorge, situated in the High Atlas Mountains. The Todra Gorges are a series of deep-sided limestone canyons carved out of the eastern side of the mountain range by fast-flowing rivers and offer incredible desert scenery and dramatic cliff-like terrain.
Your next stop is in Tinghir (Tinerhir), located in the Todra valley at the end of the High Atlas Mountains. Tinghir has a charming atmosphere that is highlighted by its walking trails. On your walk, you will be entertained by the natural beauty of the valley’s landscape and the remarkable historical icons that you will see.
Continue to the Valley of Roses, Kalaa M'gouna, where you will stop in the village known for its roses, rich traditions, and Berber culture. In the late spring months, this rose-covered city is a never-ending pink carpet that dots the otherwise brown landscape.
Leaving the Valley of Roses behind, you will arrive at your final sight-seeing spot for the day, the Kasbah of Taourirt in Ouarzazate. Built in the 19th century with around 300 rooms, the Kasbah of Taourirt is one of Morocco’s most important fortifications (kasbahs).
Thami El Glaoui, known as “The Lord of the Atlas”, was the Pasha (Governor) of Marrakech during the French colonial rule. The El Glaoui family took over and expanded the Kasbah of Taourirt in the 19th & 20th centuries. It’s where many of their descendants and relatives lived accompanied by their servants until the end of French colonial rule.
