QUEBEC CITY
Named World Heritage Site in 1985 Quebec City is as breathtaking as the motherland France. Quebec City recently celebrated its 400th anniversary since being founded by Samuel de Champlain. The city represents the first significant settlement in Canada.
The population is 95% Francophone or French speaking only, English is spoken only by those who work in touristic areas. Quebecois are almost a 100% French in spirit, language and feeling and it is reflected in their buildings, restaurants and lifestyle.
A place to visit is definitely Vieux Quebec or Old Quebec where you will see the walls that still surround what was the old area of Quebec. Admire the Chateau Frontenac, a hotel with castle like turrets, is a building worth looking at and taking pictures. While in Quebec City visit the Basilique Notre-Dame, La Citadelle, Musée de l'Amérique Française just to name a few.
