St. Lucia is a volcanic island within the Windward Islands, and is 27 miles long and 14 miles wide. English is the official language of the island, however most locals speak patois, a mix of French creole. The population is 167,698 people, and the average temperature in the summer is 85 degrees fahrenheit and in the winter is 75 degrees fahrenheit.
St. Lucia is known for offering the unspoiled exotic wildlife, and diverse marine life as well. Many licensed guides lead hiking and biking tours visitng historic plantations as well as remains of Volcanoes.
All persons entering the island including Canadian and US citizens must carry a valid passport and proof of a return ticket. Visas are not required by citizens of the UK, US or Commonwelath countries. There is electricity available on the island and the currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar. Today St. Lucia is part of the British Commonwealth, and is home to award winning luxury villas and resorts.
