Spanish is spoken and English in the tourist areas. The Mexican Peso is the currency but US dollars are widely accepted and preferred when doing cash transactions. ATM machines are mainly available at downtown banks, most major credit cards are accepted, travellers cheques are easily accepted at most major hotels (mainly US currency).
