Negril:
Negril is the “newest” hot spot on the Caribbean and in Jamaica. Located on the west coast of Jamaica, Negril was discovered in the 1700’s by pirates. In the 1960’s and 70’s Negril was invaded by American hippies. Today, many people are drawn to Negril looking to enjoy the 7miles of sandy beaches and natural beauty, along with spectacular sunsets and sunrises.

Negril is the westernmost city in Jamaica, and its original name came from the Spanish word “Negrillo” in reference to the black cliffs south of the village back then. Negril has a long history, but became famous for its hospitality and beaches only in the 1950’s. Its reputation for being a hospitable town and having an area of beautiful beaches gave way to the construction of its first of many resorts in the late 1960’s.

Negril offers one of the best sites for snorkelling and scuba diving in the island. Negril has also a reputation for its nudist beaches, something that started with the arrival of hippies in the 1960’s. The area is open to a tranquil lagoon, protected by a coral reef and the setting looks perfect with backdrops of coconuts and palm trees, a typical Caribbean scene.

The main attraction in Negril is Seven Mile beach, Royal Palm Reserve a local wetland waiting for you to explore, or you can take a day to head to Rhodes Hall Plantation, especially if like to ride horses. Explore the north area of Negril, stop at Hurricane Park for cold refreshments and food on your way to banana and coconut groves high in the hills, watching crocodiles is one of the highlights of the visit to the north of Negril.
