Negril, a seven mile stretch of pure white sand, is at the south end of Long Bay. At the north is the smaller Bloody Bay, where whalers used to carve up their catch. The main part of Negril has resorts and beaches but no snorkelling and you have to take a boat.
In the west end of Negril are beautiful cliffs and many fine caves, with great snorkelling but not beaches. In between is an area with neither beaches nor cliffs. Behind the Bay is the Great Morass, which is being drained for developments but remains a protected area as a natural wetland.
