Galapagos are an archipelago of islands located 973 km off the Pacific coast of Ecuador. Islas Galapagos is a UNESCO world heritage site, due to its main feature, wildlife. The islands are a province of Ecuador, a national park and a biological marine reserve. The islands have an approximate population of 23,000 people, the official language is Spanish.
Galapagos offer some of the best wildlife viewing in the world, animals are beautiful and there are many species, but most interesting the animals in these islands are fearless of humans. The most noticeable species are land iguanas, marine iguana, tortoise, green turtle, blue-footed Booby, penguin, waved albatross, Galapagos hawk, Galapagos mockingbirds, sea lions and more.
Most visitors get to Galapagos by plane, note that only two airlines serve the islands, booking way in advance is recommended as seats on planes go really fast, and fares are not cheap.
