Santo Domingo is bordered by impressive 16th century buildings, and offers impressive palatial houses and majestic churches.
The coolest months in Santo Domingo are December and January, and July and August are the warmest. Santo Domingo is the center of economic activity in the Dominican Republic, and attracts many international companies. Santo Domingo is the home to the first cathedral in America, the Catedral Santa Maria La Menor, as well as a cross shaped lighthouse built in honor of Christopher Columbus.
