Varadero Vacation Information:
Varadero is a strip Peninsula West of Cuba in the Province of Matanzas, 15 km from the airport. With 20 km of beautiful white sand beaches is Cuba's number one tourist destination, and the largest resort area in the Caribbean. Varadero is also famous for its great Nightlife here you find plenty of Night Clubs and Discotheques. Varadero has the only Golf Club in the Island (18 hole designed by Canadian Les Forber). Being only 2 hours away from Havana Varadero is ideal for a combined holiday of colonial tours and beach.
Travelling Tips when traveling to Varadero: You need a valid passport, visas are not usually needed but consult your local Tourist Board office. A 90 day stay tourist card is included with your package, there is an extra charge for children under 2. Flying time is 3 to 4 hours non stop service but sometimes flights may involve an extra stopover.
The currency is the Cuban Convertible Peso, only available in Cuba this currency is intended for tourist use, it is useless outside of Cuba. Most major credit cards are accepted as long as they have been issued by a Non USA bank, travelers cheques may not be accepted everywere, ATM machines are not available in Cuba. Electricity may vary between 110v/220v bringing an adaptor is recommended. Long distance charges in Varadero are very expensive opt for buying a calling card. Walkie Talkies, GPS, cordless phones are not allowed in Cuba. Upon departure from Varadero you need to pay $25 convertible pesos in exact cash per person.
