Sofia Flights

Sofia is the capital city of Bulgaria and the largest city in the country. Located at the foot of popular ski mountain Vitosha, Sofia is home to close to 1.5 million people. The city is the centre for the arts, economy, culture, education and administration for Bulgaria.

Sofia ranks among the oldest cities in Europe; its beginnings could be traced 7,000 years back. Prehistoric settlements were excavated in the centre of Sofia near the Royal Palace.

Although Sofia is one of the oldest cities in Europe, this is one of the youngest Capital cities in Europe being named Capital of Bulgaria only in 1879. Sofia has a very busy nightlife with hundreds of bars, pubs, nightclubs and restaurants that guarantee an entertaining night out. Sofia has also many museums to visit; among them, the National Historical Museum, the Bulgarian Natural History Museum, and the National Museum of Military History among many others. Other places of interest include the Sofia Downtown, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the National Art Gallery, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and The Largo a government building.
