Quito Flights
Quito is the capital city of Ecuador and second largest in the country with a population close to 2 million people. The city was founded in 1534 by Sebastian Benalcazar. The streets of Old Town have been well preserved, very little has changed in this part of the city. Quito features original colonial structures that have endured the earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. Back in 1978, UNESCO declared Quito a World Heritage Site.
Although Quito is the capital city of Ecuador, it is the second largest city in Ecuador and not as important for the country’s economy as their counterparts from Guayaquil with who have a rivalry for the same reasons.
Quito is not all colonial structures, a few kilometres from the Old Town, modern buildings rise, modern mansions and electric cars of public transport ride along city streets. Quito enjoys average temperatures of 15C, the city experiences only two of the four seasons of the year summer and winter, four months of summer and eight of winter during which time it rains.
