Hong Kong began as a trading port and later became a crown colony of the British in 1842. The city was classified as British dependent territory in 1983 and later the British transferred sovereignty to China in 1997.

Known for its spectacular skyline and harbour, this is a cosmopolitan city, the centre where the eastern world meets the western world and this is reflected in its food, traditions and music.

Hong Kong has a population of 7 million people and it is one of the most densely populated spot in the world. The city is characterized by the number of skyscrapers, but the most impressive fact is that they are built with bamboo scaffolding and according to the principles of the feng shui. Home is home to the largest shopping centers in the world, but colourful street markets are everywhere. Main attractions in Hong Kong include: the Hong Kong Disneyland, Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Museum of History, the Hong Kong Science Museum, and Ocean Park a combination of marine park and amusement centre.
