Guadalajara Flights
Guadalajara is the capital city of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. The city has a population of close to 1.6 million people and it is the second largest city in Mexico, the Guadalajara metropolitan area has a total population of over 4 million people. Guadalajara is located at 1,600 meters above sea level.
The name of the city derives from an Arabic word meaning “Valley of Stones” and it was named after a city in Spain with the same name.
The city has hosted major international events in 1991, 2004, 2005, and will be hosting the Pan Am games in 2011.
Main attractions in Guadalajara include, a chance to see the mural by Orozco an artist that put his artistic work into several buildings around the city, shopping of crafts from the source at the suburbs of Tonala and Tlaquepaque, experiencing Mariachi music a shot of tequila and the "jarabe tapatio" (Mexican hat dance) and visiting pre-Hispanic ruins Los Guachimontones.
