Aguascalientes Flights
Located in central western Mexico, Aguascalientes is the capital of the state of Aguascalientes. Aguascalientes lies on the banks of the Aguascalientes Rivers at an altitude of 1,888 meters above sea level.
The city was founded on October 22nd 1575 by Juan de Montoro. The name comes from compounding two words aguas-calientes which translated means "hot waters". When the city was settled it was given this name due to the abundance of hot springs in the area. Aguascalientes has done a good job in preserving its rich colonial heritage. The city employs thousands of people in the industrial parks in the city; these people come from other states looking for a higher quality of life.
Aguascalientes holds the largest festival in Mexico, the San Marcos Fair and it attracts 7 million visitors every year. Aguascalientes Downtown has several great museums, Museum of Aguascalientes, Guadalupe Posada Museum, and State History Museum. In addition, Aguascalientes is home to Morelos Theatre, and Teatro Aguascalientes.
