Belize is just south of Mexico Yucatan Peninsula, and has more than 40 percent of it's land protected as sanctuaries. The Belize barrier reef stretches along 185 miles of Belize's coastline along with a chain of islands or cayes. The largest, Ambergris Caye is dive central. Shallow sites are also available for snorkellers such as Shark-Ray Alley, where visitors can swim with sharks and stingrays.
