Antigua is an island of only 108 square miles, with low hills which rise to the south. Antigua has a coastline of safe harbors with a protective wall of coral reef which makes Antigua an ideal beach destination for any family holiday. The main language in Antigua is English, and the population is close to 70,000 people. The average temperature in the summer reaches close to 85 degrees fahrenheit, and the main currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar.
In terms of entry, all US citizens must have a valid passport to re-enter the United States and Canadian and UK nationals need either a valid passport or original birth certificate accompanied by a valid driver's license with photogrpah or a Citizenship Card or naturalization certificate with photo identification. All visitors must also have proof of onward or return tickets. Electricity is available on the island, and there are many options in terms of nightlife and dining. A sightseer must be sure to visit the Harmony Hall Art Gallery, the Antigua Black Pineapple fields, as well as go on a glass-bottom boat to see the vast marine wildlife. As well, tourists may also go on a day trip to Antigua's neighboring island, Barbuda.
